H.D. Cranford Consulting, LLC, is the culmination of nearly fourteen years of fire service duty, the last eight of which were spent investigating the origin and cause of fires and explosions with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department. As the department’s Assistant Fire Marshal, Doug Cranford managed a Division within the Bureau of Fire Prevention, and oversaw six sworn Peace Officers responsible for investigations within a geographical area of approximately 256 sq miles. Doug has conducted joint investigations with local, state, and federal agencies, and specializes in complex, and fatal investigations. Clients include plaintiff and civil defense attorneys, insurance companies, and marine surveyors. A graduate of the National Fire Academy, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, and the Alabama Fire College, Doug has been proffered as an expert witness in the field of Fire Investigations in state and federal court. He has designed and presented courses from the basic arson awareness, to forensic investigation techniques. With the creation of CFI CHRONICLES, Doug is also a regularly published author in investigation related topics.
