HDCC & Associates, LLC was founded in 2010 by H. Doug Cranford, CFI. We are home based in Mobile, AL, and have satellite offices in Pass Christian, MS, Jackson, AL, and Land O’ Lakes, FL. Mileage to the incident site is automatically calculated from the nearest office. As the needs of our clients change, HDCC’s team of experts expands to accommodate their needs. We provide a full range of forensic, reconstruction, litigation and code services, and we strive for the complete satisfaction of every client.

Phone: (251) 680-2810 dougcranford@hdccfi.com   Doug Cranford, CFI, entered the private market after a successful fire service career, the last eight years of which were spent investigating the origin and cause of fires and explosions with the Mobile Fire Rescue Department. As the Assistant Fire Marshall for the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department, Doug Cranford managed the Investigative Division of the Bureau of Fire Prevention, and oversaw six sworn Peace Officers responsible for investigations within a geographical area of approximately 256 sq. miles. Doug has conducted joint investigations with local, state, and federal agencies and specializes in complex and fatal investigations. A graduate of the National Fire Academy, the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the Alabama Fire College, Doug has been proffered as an expert witness in the field of Fire Investigations in state and federal court. He has designed and presented courses from the basic arson awareness to forensic investigation techniques.

furr@hdccfi.com   Mike Furr, CFI, joined our team in 2009 and is in our Jackson, AL, office. Mike has served 30 years with the Jackson Alabama Volunteer Fire Department. As the Deputy Chief, he assists in fire investigations for the department. A graduate of Columbia Southern University, Mike holds an Associate Degree in Fire Science.

james@hdccfi.com   Captain James Peavey had been conducting Origin & Cause investigations for the City of Mobile Fire Prevention Bureau for years. James conducts roughly 100 investigations per year in his jurisdiction. He’s been trained at the National Fire College, Alabama Fire College as well as the Mobile Police Academy and has experience and training to be an asset to any fire investigation.

david@hdccfi.com   Fire Marshall David Allen has been serving the Pensacola Fire Department since 1988. David supervises code inspections for more than 3000 businesses in his area annually. He also provides code interpretations and conducts all plan reviews for his Department. As a graduate of Columbia Southern University, David holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science along with an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Pensacola Junior College.

greg@hdccfi.com   Greg Hatcher has extensive knowledge and experience in the area of presentation graphics in the legal setting. Greg has developed visual strategies to aid attorneys and expert witnesses communicate complex issues for court and mediation. Included in those have been cases involving automobiles, pedestrians, tractor-trailers, ATV, construction, fire, and product failure. His experience has included the creation of scale models, interactive displays, animations, various other display types.
